Foreclosure Slowdown Accounts For Real Estate Stability
Drawing data from the indices that track home values, a lot of observations have been made which I have outlined in this blog post. On a yearly basis Real Estate market was down in August and comparatively stable in the following months. Year over year, home values have shown a drop of 4.5 percent in the month of August.
The index tracks 157 metropolitan areas in the US. It has been observed that, the home values have dropped 30.5 percent since the peak values in April 2006. The drop since the peak year values at 21 percent if foreclosures and bank-owned homes are excluded. 25 large metros which were tracked displayed that their index value is constant on a monthly basis.
Miami Real Estate
property developers in Fort Lauderdale are known to offer the most expensive penthouses, commercial properties, luxury homes and condos in Miami. However, the data from Miami real estate studies show the biggest drop from peak, falling by 54.5 percent.
The rate at which homes were foreclosed has declined from 10.9 to 9.2 every 10,000 homes. Foreclosure re-sales account for 19.5 percent of overall sales. The pace of foreclosure liquidations is slower than usual, impacting the home-value trends in a positive manner.
Economists feel that the pace will increase with time, which in turn will increase the downward pressure on prices. The common concern expressed by economists is, the uncertainty of the impact of recent economic turmoil and continued weak economic indicators on future home sales and home-value trends. The only constant bright spot in the real estate market is the non-distressed segment.
There are millions of properties in the shadow inventory waiting for the right time to be sold. For this reason, a flood of foreclosures is not expected anytime soon, leading to a higher uncertainty in the real estate market prices.
Also waterfronts & oceanfront condos, especially in Miami seem to be the latest preferred choices of more affluent buyers.
How to Grow an Herb Garden

How to grow beautiful culinary herbs
You donât have to be a chef or have a green thumb to grow an herb garden. Culinary herbs are extremely easy to grow. Once they get going, they add fragrance, texture and color to just about any garden or space. Harvest your culinary herbs to make everything from herbal teas, vinegars and flavorful recipes.
Herbs don’t require much space to grow. You can plant them in beds in a garden or you can grow them in a small container. Combining herbs can create a beautiful effect. Your bed or container is your canvas – and what you plant there can grow into a beautiful masterpiece.
Plenty of sun
Herbs love plenty of sunlight. When choosing a location for your herbs, look for an outdoor area or window that gets 5-7 hours of direct sunlight each day.
Well-drained soil
Whether you are planting your herbs in containers or a garden, start by testing your soil for nutrients and pH. It may be necessary to adjust your soil pH to the near-neutral pH of 6-7 that herbs grow best in. You will also want to add a layer of organic compost and Read the rest of this entry »
How to rid your garden of bugs

How to de-bug your garden
Did you know it is estimated that there are over 100,000 different species of insects that live in North America? If you don’t think you have bugs in your garden – guess again. In a typical backyard there are probably 1,000 little critters setting up house.
Remember, not all insects are bad. Less than three percent of all insects are classified as pests. Different plants attract different insects. You will not find a corn worm on a tomato plant, because it’s digestive system simply cannot handle it.
It is helpful to know the insects that live in your area. This will enable you to avoid insect infestation by planting plants that these insects do not eat. This is the safest, most environmentally friendly way to de-bug your garden.
Unfortunately, this will probably not be enough to keep all destructive insects out of your garden. For many gardeners, it is necessary to use insecticides. When using insecticides, you will have maximum results if you know what kind of insects you have. Always read the label on the insecticide and follow all directions. Make sure that it is labeled for use Read the rest of this entry »
What are retro home accessories?
In essence, retro doesn’t sound particularly attractive on paper. Defined as “culturally outdated” or “aged”, retro has in fact become one of the main trends in home interiors.
To be truly retro, a piece should be at least 20 years old – not exactly long ago but aged enough to be stylish. However, many modern home accessories are now designed specifically to give that retro appearance, without the expensive price tag truly retro accessories can now command.
Many people consider retro to mean fashion and art from the 1960s and 1970s and certainly, these decades are very popular with regards to home interiors. “Pod” chairs which resemble a hollowed out egg, wicker seating and lava lamps are great examples of retro style from this period.
Online businesses have sprung up across the globe, specialising in this particular genre, which is symbolic of the size of the market and level of demand.

Claiming A Home Improvement Tax Deduction
The approach of spring often encourages homeowners to start considering home improvements and repairs. However, before you start getting out the hammer and nails or hiring a contractor consider if your home improvements may be eligible for a home improvement tax deduction.
The first thing the homeowner must understand is the difference between a home improvement and a home repair. Simply put, a home repair is classified as fixing a problem. For example, repairing a hole in the roof, fixing a leak or repainting a room would be considered repairs. On the other hand, remodeling a kitchen, adding a couple of rooms, building a garage or installing a swimming pool would be classed as improvements. These improvements add to the living amenity of the home’s owners and usually add value to the home.
The Internal Revenue Service sets out strict guidelines on how a homeowner can claim a home improvement tax deduction. It is strongly recommended that before you hire a contractor or start any home improvement works that you obtain advice from you tax consultant or from the local office of the IRS
